Vicky Nolan - Don't Panic (Coldplay Cover)

Whilst down in Brighton writing and recording with Chicks With Hits last week, the beautiful Vicky Nolan decided to record a cover of her singing one of her favourite songs of all-time. The Manchester-born songstress took on 'Don't Panic' by Coldplay, stripping it all the way back, with just a piano and her incredibly pure vocals.

Ed Sheeran - Drunk x Empire State of Mind (Live Lounge)

As part of Fearne Cotton's special Brit Awards week on Radio 1, Ed Sheeran dropped into the Maida Vale studios this morning to perform his latest single and a mystery cover of a track from a previous Brit winner. Following an ever-flawless rendition of 'Drunk', the 20 year-old singer/songwriter decided to take on the Jay-Z & Alicia Keys' monster collaboration 'Empire State of Mind', putting his own unique soulful twist on it and absolutely smashing it to pieces. This was Ed's first live lounge with a full band (Chris, Mark & John), and for me it was his best to date. Listen to/download both performances after the jump - Slumdon Bridge has had 120,000+ downloads in less than 24 hours. Bawse.

Mahalia - Mardy Bum (Acoustic Video)

Directed by Kaz Ove, here is a lovely video portrait of 13-year old Mahalia in the studio with her family recording a stripped back acoustic performance of her cover of 'Mardy Bum' by Arctic Monkeys. A sick rendition, and hopefully it's just the start for this incredibly talented singer/songwriter - debut EP on the way.

Christina Aguilera - At Last (Live @ Etta James Funeral)

Yesterday saw the funeral of Soul legend Etta James, who sadly passed away last week - The Roots and the legendary Stevie Wonder both paid tribute in their own unique way, but it was Christina Aguilera's rendition of the iconic 'At Last' that was the stand out performance. An amazing lady, and a top vocal from Miss Aguilera (she should cover up a bit more next time though).
