Jacob Banks - I'd Rather Go Blind X Lost Ones

Mr Jacobs Banks celebrates the start of 2014 with some brand new music for us all, which comes in the form of his soulful cover of Etta James' 'I'd Rather Go Blind' and J Cole's 'Lost Ones'. It's sure to be a massive year for this young man and I can't wait to hear more from him.

Christina Aguilera - At Last (Live @ Etta James Funeral)

Yesterday saw the funeral of Soul legend Etta James, who sadly passed away last week - The Roots and the legendary Stevie Wonder both paid tribute in their own unique way, but it was Christina Aguilera's rendition of the iconic 'At Last' that was the stand out performance. An amazing lady, and a top vocal from Miss Aguilera (she should cover up a bit more next time though).

Etta James - I'd Rather Go Blind (Lucky Paul Rework x Tribute)

Before releasing his new single 'Elephant Island' on Somethinksounds, New Zealand-based beat maker Lucky Paul drops off this beautiful rework of the Etta James classic 'I'd Rather Go Blind'. Paul keeps enough of the original to please the oldies, but adds some enchanting bass and twisting Electronic sounds to bring it all the way into 2012. Beautiful, sorely missed.

Etta James dies age 73

Ah man, this is sad news. Singing legend Etta James, whose assertive, soulful voice lit up such hits as 'My Funny Valentine', 'Something's Got a Hold on Me' and the wedding favorite 'At Last', has died, according to her longtime friend and manager, Lupe De Leon. She was 73 and had been diagnosed with leukemia in 2010. James, who also suffered from dementia and hepatitis C, died at a hopsital in Riverside, California. Throughout her career, James overcame a heroin addiction, opened for the Rolling Stones, won six Grammys and was voted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Despite her ups and downs - including a number of health problems - she always maintained an optimistic attitude. Read the full story HERE, and enjoy one of my favourite tracks of all-time below. Rest in power...
