One Direction achieve US chart history after debuting at Number 1

British boy band One Direction have this week made US chart history by becoming the first British act to go in at Number 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with their debut album - a feet that The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Queen and even the record-breaking Adele couldn't achieve. The album only reached Number 1 in the UK chart, but this week shifted 176,000 copies in the US, and knocked Bruce Springsteen's 'Wrecking Ball' off the top spot.

Nina Nesbitt reveals artwork for 'The Apple Tree' EP

The wonderful Nina Nesbitt has today revealed the artwork for her forthcoming EP 'The Apple Tree', which is set to be released next month. RapidShare ordered to start proactively filtering out pirated material

After the whole MegaUpload situatio, courts in Hamburg have this weekend issued orders to fellow file-sharing site RapidShare, to begin filtering out pirated material from their site. RapidShare will be required to monitor users files for copyright infringement before they are made available publicly for download. This could well be the beginning of the end for RapidShare, but as well all know in this current world of technology, there will be another site created tomorrow, and one the day after that, and so on and so forth. One never ending battle.

The Temptations file suit against UMG over iTunes royalties

Joining many other acts in having the same issue with their label, legendary Motown group The Temptations have this week filed a suit against UMG (Universal Music Group) for millions of dollars in unpaid royalties, claiming they have not been given the correct amount of revenue from ringtone and digital download sales.

Mikill Pane & Josh Osho confirmed as support for Rizzle Kicks April/May Tour

After finishing their most recent UK tour last night @ London's Shepherds Bush Empire, Rizzle Kicks are set to be back on the road as soon as next month, for another 9 date tour. Having had Random Impulse on their last tour, they are sticking with the upcoming UK 'urban' acts, by inviting the incredible Mikill Pane & Josh Osho along for the ride. Daft Punk album set for a possible June release date?

Following a screening of the Paul Williams: Still Alive documentary at this week's SXSW festival, Paul Williams himself revealed some information about the forthcoming Daft Punk album, which he has been working on. The American songwriter said: "I have written songs for Daft Punk. This material will appear on their new album, coming maybe June." It's not much, and there is no news as to how many songs he has worked on with the French duo, but with the news that they have also been working with Chic legend Nile Rogers, it's going to be very interesting to see what direction they are going with for their highly anticipated return.

Jay-Z & KanYe West sell 'Otis' Maybach for $60,000

After tearing it to pieces for their Spike Jonze directed 'Otis' video, Jay-Z & KanYe West have now sold the Maybach for $60,000 in an auction. Although the original is worth $350,000, it was behind one of the best Hip-Hop videos in the past 10 years, doesn't even start, and most importantly - the proceeds went to Save The Children to help provide food for children in Africa. Good cause.

Adele hits another chart milestone in America

Friday saw Adele reach another milestone in America, holding down #1 on the Billboard 200 album chart for the 23rd week. Billboard reports that her sophmore album sold another 247,000 copies in the past week, and has now become the longest-running #1 since Prince & the Revolutions 'Purple Rain' soundtrack spent 24 weeks at the top in 1984/1985. This year the Pop princess has sold 2.07 million copies, with Whitney's Greatest Hits way behind in second, with 527,000 copies sold. Unbelievable.

Gotye spends 4th week at No.1, selling 558,000 copies

Belgian-born Gotye this weekend finds himself spending his fourth week at number 1 in the official UK singles chart with 'Somebody That I Used To Know'. The single has been around for some time now, but only started to become noticed in this country a couple of months ago, and has now sold 558,000 copies, making it the first single to break the half a million barrier in 2012. Emeli Sandé's 'Next To Me' climbs one spot to take the runner-up place, with Nicki Minaj moving up to 3 with 'Starships'. Girl group Stooshe are a new entry at 5 with 'Love Me'.
