British boy band One Direction have this week made US chart history by becoming the first British act to go in at Number 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with their debut album - a feet that The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Queen and even the record-breaking Adele couldn't achieve. The album only reached Number 1 in the UK chart, but this week shifted 176,000 copies in the US, and knocked Bruce Springsteen's 'Wrecking Ball' off the top spot.
"We simply cannot believe that we are number one in America!,” said One Direction’s Harry Styles. “We want to thank each and every one of our fans in the US who bought our album and we would also like to thank the American public for being so supportive of us."
