What You Need

The Weeknd are an R&B group that have recently taken the internet by storm - I didn’t think we would get a remix/edit this quick, but we have, and it’s by someone I respect very highly. Adam Port is a tech-house producer/DJ from Berlin, and has taken my favourite track from their mixtape and made it into a groovy jam that wouldn’t sound out of place in any club.

U Can Do It Baby

Here is a spectacular new house track courtesy of A1 Nicholas. Not sure if it could ever better the original, but my god he did one hell of a job in trying. George Benson is one of the greatest musicians to ever walk the earth and this is one hell of a tribute. Listen to the original HERE and buy this absolute jam HERE. Real music.

Summer Soul Mix

Last year when I first heard this I wasn’t too familiar with the name Baller B, but over the past 12 months he has become a good friend of mine, and as many of you already know, has become the tour DJ for Example. This mix is everything that I love about soulful house and is a showcase of his exceptional DJ skills. With a little help from his friend Lucas The Beatbox, this is the most perfect mix for beach parties, BBQs or any summer party you’re at this year. You can download below and catch the tracklist after the jump. My new mix will be here in the next two weeks, promise.

Hard Yards

A new track from Domsko, which features the exceptional vocals of Astral T and comes courtesy of one of my favourite labels, Lost My Dog. This is one of funkiest House tracks I’ve heard for a while. So much dynamite in the locker for my new mix, and this is just a taster of what you can expect.

Next To You

Here is Soul Clap’s remix of Locussolus’s ‘Next To You’, which can be found on their collaborative mixtape for DJ Kicks, which they have put together with their record label owners and good friends, Wolf + Lamb. The four DJs behind this mix (Wolf + Lamb’s Gadi Mizrahi and Zev Eisenberg, Soul Clap’s Cnyce and Elyte) recognised it as an opportunity to offer a pretty definitive look at their style. On a basic level, these guys make slow-burning, steamy house music but round it out with elements from hip-hop, R&B, and vintage pop - breakbeats, rave-y vocal snatches, and funk samples split time with warm, undulating synth and bass. Beautiful stuff, which is available for you to buy now.

Middle x Street

Been waiting to hear Jamie Woon’s debut album, Mirrorwriting, for a very long time, and I’m happy to say that it lived up to all my expectations. It’s like Nicolas Jaar & James Blake’s albums merged together, but about 10x better - everything about is stunning, and you can see exactly why it took 3/4 years to make. Below you can hear two of my favourite tracks from the album and you can visit PinBoard to read a review that I fully concur with. Will definitely be one of THE stand out albums of 2011 - be sure to get your copy on the 14th.
