Sam Smith's debut album The Lonely Hour isn't due out till May 26th, but today the Brits Critics' Choice winner announced he's teamed up with iTunes to make one track available for free a few months early. The track, entitled 'Make It To Me', was written in partnership with Jimmy Naples and Howard from Disclosure and as we've come to expect from the BBC Sound of 2014 winner is absolutely stunning. Since the release of her debut album in 2011 and the arguably somewhat pre-emptive hype leading up to its publication, it's fair to say things have gone slightly off the boil for Clare Maguire. Despite reports of supposed problems with alcohol abuse, however, it would seem the British singer-songerwriter is now finally back and her latest track 'Whenever You Want It' acts as evidence that there may still be some talent left in this supposed industry 'flop'.

Revealed late last night via Twitter, Ed Sheeran has written a new track, his first solo effort for 2 years, for Peter Jackson's forthcoming film 'The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug'. On the subject of the folk inspired track Ed tweeted this, "I got the chance to produce and play all the instruments on it apart from the cello. Managed to learn violin for a day, hope you all dig it." Although, the track won't be appearing on his sophmore album, which is expected at some point in 2014, after listening I think you'll agree that it's pretty damn special all the same.
