The House of Coxhead: Top 10 Albums of 2013

With 2013 coming to a close, and my favourite songs/remixes in the two posts below, it's time for me to run you through my top 10 albums from the past 12 months. In all honesty, it hasn't been the greatest year for full-length LPs (far too many EPs), but there have definitely been some standouts and a handful that will definitely go down as classics in the future. I'd like to think this selection covers the majority of music you have found on this site - from Pop to Alternative and from Hip-Hop to Dance. My ethos has always been to provide people with a place where they can find music that they wouldn't necessarily find elsewhere, and I feel extremely proud to have been among the first to discover 4 of the acts in this list. I hope you all had a great Christmas, and have a fantastic new year - your support means the world, and 2013 has been the best year of my life. Big. Up.

I tried to make the list as diverse as possible, but it was hard to get it down to 100 when my 2012 playlist has 8,000+ songs. The House Of Coxhead: Sound Of 2013 (Part 1)

Seeing as though every man and his dog is doing a 'Sound Of 2013' list this year, I thought it was only right that The House Of Coxhead gives you some people to watch out for in the new year, who I believe have all the elements to become stars of the future. The House Of Coxhead: Top 100 Hip-Hop Songs of All-Time

After working on this since the turn of the new year, I am now pleased to present to you my 'Top 100 Hip-Hop Songs of All-Time'. Following the success of my yearly Top 100 lists, it was only right to do one for my favourite genre and a movement that has changed millions of people's lives over the past 30+ years. The list covers every type of sound/style that has ever been associated with Hip-Hop and is what I believe to be a perfect representation of everything that is positive about the culture that we have all come to love. As with all my lists, this is a personal opinion, and there will be songs in it that you wouldn't have in your list and songs that didn't make the cut which could well be in your Top 10. However, hopefully you will appreciate this and enjoy it as much as I enjoyed putting it together. Hip-Hop will never die...

Ed Sheeran nominated for 4 BRITs

Ed Sheeran, the man who's name is on everyones lips, today discovered that he has been nominated for 4 BRIT Awards, including British Male Solo Artist, British Breakthrough Act, British Single & British Album of the year. Just behind him with three nominations each are Adele, last year's global chart queen, and Jessie J, the 2011 winner of the Critics' Choice Award. The House Of Coxhead: Top 100 Songs of 2011

After bringing you the Top 100 Remixes of 2011 on Christmas Eve, here is my Top 100 Songs of 2011. Whereas the majority of the tracks on the remixes list were from an Electronic genre, this list covers a much wider range of music, including Funk, Soul, Hip-Hop, Folk, Alt Rock, Pop, Grime and more. There will be a distinct lack of songs from Rock/Indie artists, but for those people who follow my blog closely, you will already know that this isn't something that I cover on regular basis anyway. 2011 has been a simply mind-blowing year for music, and putting this list together became a much more difficult task than first planned, because I had to get down to an eclectically selected list of 100 tracks from a 8,500 song playlist. As with the remixes list there will be a few selections that you would/wouldn't have in your list (or higher than I have them), but for me this covers everything positive that has been released in 2011 and the incredibly wide diversity in sound. Hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed putting it together over the past 3 months, see you all in 2012 and thank you for your continued support.
