French producer Evil Needle is definitely one of my favourite producers out right now. His brand of laid back Hip-Hop cradles me through the low times, the high times and really high times. His beat tape "Mood" is one of my favourite musical purchases of all time and my decision to give him the spotlight is based mostly on how much he impressed me with it.

Following on from the success of the Wretch 32 competition over the past 7 days, it's time to get straight into the second competition from myself and Urban Artist Soap, which will give you all the chance to win one of five exclusive signed prints of singer/rapper Example. Whereas the Wretch painting was only finished last month, this Example portrait was completed at the back end of 2010, with the prints being signed last week at his arena gig in Bournemouth. However, as with the Wretch portait, there are only 7 copies of this painting in the world - the original canvas (which is now owned by Example), a print for myself and the 5 signed prints that are going to be up for grabs in this competition.

Following on from his well received debut single 'Bad News', which features The D.O.T. (Mike Skinner & Rob Harvery) on the newly resurrected Beats label, Welsh rapper Elro drops off a sick 7-track mixtape called 'Porcelain Corse'. Most of the production is handled by Markus Jakes, but it's the Preditah & Toddla T tracks that stand out for me - 'Scrabble' is the type of witty Grime track you would expect with the Brummy beat-maker behind the boards and JME & Manga providing verses. 'Pointless' is a refreshing sound though, with Toddla providing a Gorillaz-type beat to allow Elro to showcase his lyrical prowess on the mic and his incredibly unique flow. After receiving heavy support from all corners since its first play on Radio 1, Dot Rotten today uploaded the Quason Matthews directed visuals for his new single 'Overload'. The single features production from TMS and a sample of the legendary 'Children' by Robert Miles. The original is stunning, this is an incredible rework and the thought-provoking video does them both justice.

Following on from Gramatik's 'Street Bangerz Vol. 1, 2 & 3', Krystian Shek's 'Vol. 4' and Slabofmisuse's 'Vol. 5' - Poldoore steps up to bring us 'Street Bangerz Vol. 6', which is set to be released May 30th on Cold Busted. This series has been absolutely flawless thus far, and I'm pleased to say that Poldoore has kept up the trend, opitimising everything that's refreshing about this label - fusing together Trip-Hop with Soul, Funk and many other genres to create a forward-thinking outlook on making music. The ever impresive Gensu Dean calls on 7evenThirty & Homeboy Sandman to provide the vocals for his new single 'Ramesses', which is a term for ancient Egyptian royalty, Pharaohs to be specific. 7even is brilliant, but Sandman is lyrically on another level to anyone out there right there now - you need a dictionary to disect his verses.
