Salaam Remi celebrated his birthday a couple of days ago and that reminded me that not enough people know how great he is. The quality and variety of his productions make him a genius in my eyes and definitely one of the most underrated and undermentioned producers in the game.
'Helicopters & Planes' is the lead single from Josh Kumra's forthcoming debut album, which features Roc Nation rapper K-Koke. Wasn't expecting this at all, but it's incredibly sick, and has me excited for what else he's got to offer on his album, which will drop later this year on RCA.
Following on from their last single 'I Need Some Money', which was playlisted on 1xtra and given lots of love by Pro Green on Nihal's Radio 1 Review Show, Great Scott are back with a video for the follow up single, 'Everything I Do Goin' Be Funky'. Their voices aren't the sterotypical rap voices that you're used to hearing, and their beats have a real old skool feel, but that's what I love about them. Far too many people coform to the norm, and Great Scott do anything but. Download for free HERE.
Some dope visuals for the debut single from 16-year old Swedish rapper Adam Kanyama. Still love this track as much as the first time that I heard it. Everything about it just, works.
Taken from his 4-track EP entitled 'Odd Renditions', here is Oddisee's remix of Bon Iver's wonderful 'RE: Stacks', which is taken from from his debut album 'For Emma, Forever Ago'. Love what he's done with the beat, and his verse is incredibly sick. One of the most under-rated and talented producers/MCs in the game - download the EP HERE.
After Jay-Z was revealed as one of the headline acts last month, fellow Hip-Hop legend NaS has now been announced to top the bill at this years BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend in Hackney. NaS joins the likes of Example, Rihanna, Sub Focus, Ed Sheeran, Plan B and many more for the two day event, which will take place on June 23rd/24th. Smashed it.
After performing 'Lost My Way' on Tuesday night, Plan B's performance of 'Deepest Shame' last night aired on the extended version of Jools Holland. The track is another piece to be taken from his forthcoming album/film 'iLL Manors'. Genuinely cannot wait for this.
Using a James Brown vocal and the 'Dirty Harry' instrumental, Urban Noize create a wonderful remix of Beastie Boys' NaS-featuring single, from their 2011 release 'Hot Sauce Committee Part Two'. The perfect tribute to the untimely passing of MCA last week. R.I.P.
Cold Busted's head honcho Vitamin D adds his own funky flavour to the new single on his label, which comes courtesy of KSOZE. The original is dope, but this edit/remix takes the track to a whole new level. Both will be available June 13th.
