3ILLA
The first piece of music we’ve heard from T3 since the Slum Village break up. Granted it’s nothing like the quality I came to expect from SV, but it’s still pretty cool. Look forward to his solo album.

Some spectacularly unique visuals for my favourite track from Devlin’s debut album, Bud, Sweat & Beers. More people need to think outside the box like Jimi Crayon has for this - one of my favourite videos for a long time. Spotted over @ Try This For Example
An incredibly sick fan-made video by Steve Smith (Detroit), as part of the video contest Stones Throw are currently running. Miss you Jay Dee.
For those of you who don’t know, Blue Sky Black Death is a production duo based in San Francisco. They have been releasing quality Hip-Hop instrumental mixtapes/albums consistently for the past 4 years, however this latest release is my favourite to date. Using live instrumentation and a unique sampling style they create a sound that allows you to get lost in the music, bringing out thoughts that you never knew existed. The track below gives you a taste of what you can expect, but I advise you to listen to it from start to finish, either in a dark room or outside on a beautiful Summers day - both work. Instrumental album of the year.
One of my favourite tracks from Curren$y and Alchemist’s collaborative EP/mini-album, Covert Coup. Along with some of the best Alchemist production for years, Curren$y blesses us his strongest rhymes since Pilot Talk 1, creating a quite scintillating sound - this is a special chemistry which I hope we get to hear more of in the future.
Here is the full version of the track that you have all been hearing on the latest Lucozade advert, which features Tinie Tempah, Travis Barker & Katie Taylor. You can get your copy on iTunes NOW. Big remix.
My favourite joint from Prodigy’s first release since coming out of prison. With production from Alchemist, Sid Roams & King Benny and a feature from Havoc, this EP is all the proof I need to know that he still has it. Super super excited for the new Mobb Deep album. Get the EP HERE!
My favourite track from Quik’s eighth studio album, The Book Of David, which features West Coast legend Ice Cube. This is one of the best Hip-Hop albums of 2011 so far - really nice vibes. Boogie Till You Conk Out.
Here are two of my favourite joints off Cam’Ron & and his protégée Vado’s collaborative album Gunz & Butta, which has been in the works for over a year now. Filled with skill and bravado, this is the Hip-Hop union of the year. This gives you an idea of what you can expect - some smooth, some bangers.
Saw some rumours flying around about Odd Future wanting to draft in a young man by the name of Wes Blak - I did some research and found this, which is very Tyler-esque. You can understand why they would want to get him on board; he is the producer of this ridiculous beat and his lyrics are ever so sick. Watch this space.
