Frank Ocean - Coachella 2012 (Full Live Performance)
Frank Ocean last night made his debut at the iconic Coachella Festival, which saw the Odd Future star perform a Bob Dylan cover, various tracks from his 'Nostalgia: Ultra' mixtape and 'Analog 2' with pal Tyler The Creator. I'm one of Frank's biggest fans, and think he's a breath of fresh air to the scene, but his live performances lack a bit of something, and I'm not sure what it is yet. Hopefully this improves in time
Odd Future on Newsnight
Last night Stephen Smith caught up with Odd Future for Newsnight to bring one of the most ignorant news pieces on Hip-Hop/Rap I have ever seen to the BBC. The "they've hardly sold any records" is a simply shocking example of news reporting - Steve alone sold 40,000 copies in his first week and 'Goblin' has nearly sold a million copies worldwide. Awful, just awful.
Odd Future's Boston show shut down by Police
Controversial Hip-Hop crew Odd Future are currently on the road promoting their new mixtape, but last night saw them hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Rumours are flying around as to why the Boston show was brought to an end, but it seems as though the Police stepped in after group member Lionel “L-Boy” Boyce was arrested - it has also been said that Jasper Dolphin was restrained by security after smoking weed on stage and attempting to jump from the venue’s balcony. Watch the video after the jump, where Tyler gets cut off before he finishes explaining.
Frank Ocean - Whip Appeal
R&B star Frank Ocean drops off some more fresh music to hold us over until the release of his debut solo album, which is set to drop later this year on Def Jam. Need this album in my life - everything he releases is so fresh.
Hodgy Beats & Tyler, The Creator - P x Tyler The Creator, Frank Ocean & Syd - Analog 2
My two favourite tracks from Odd Future's new release 'The Of Tape Vol. 2', which is the follow up to their debut mixtape. The tape as a whole is hit and miss from start to finish, with glimpses of genius (like this) and moments of complete madness, but one thing I will say - it's amazing to have a Hip-Hop crew making real mixtapes like this again. Out March 20th.
Odd Future (Hodgy Beats & Tyler, The Creator) - NY (Ned Flander) (Video)
'NY (Ned Flander)' is the second track and video to be taken from Odd Future's forthcoming LP 'The Odd Future Tape Vol.2', which is set to be released March 20th. This sounds like it could be a cool project, but I won't count my chickens just yet, because I know exactly how it feels to like two tracks from an OF album and then hate the rest...
Hodgy Beats, Domo Genesis & Tyler, The Creator - Rella (Video)
Not the biggest fan of Odd Future but their latest visual offering, which is directed by Tyler, is nothing short of genius. The track features Hodgy Beats, Domo Genesis & Tyler himself, and will feature on the forthcoming 'The OF Tape Vol. 2'.
Frank Ocean - Voodoo
With D'Angelo returning to the music world this week, R&B superstar Frank Ocean drops a brand new track, which is aptly named 'Voodoo'. A very heartfelt and reflective song - this guy can do no wrong in my eyes.
Frank Ocean - Swim Good (Live in London)
Here is Frank Ocean performing one of his most well received tracks at a special gig @ XOYO in London last night, which was his first ever performance in Europe. I love this guy - 2:33 > the end = a moment.
