Consequence - Everybody Told Me

Here is the first track to come from Consequence’s upcoming mixtape, Movies In Demand 3, which is produced by Mr. KanYe West. This mixtape series has been top class and this is just another reason why Cons is one of my favourite MCs; he is a monster on the mic. Classic sampling from ‘Ye too.

Fonzwirth Bentley - Believe It x Don't Speak

About 3 years overdue, here is Fonzworth Bentley’s debut release, COLOURS. Granted he’s not be the best singer/rapper in the world, but he definitely knows how to complement his production. He also has some pretty popular friends, such as Kanye West, Andre 3000, UGK, and Lil Wayne, who all feature on the tape. This is a surprisingly solid project that’s being labelled as a mixtape, but was meant to be his debut album. We have heard the best tracks already (Everybody, Greener, etc.), but below are my two favourite new tracks, which feature Faith Evans & Crow. Download the tape HERE - good summer listening.

Amin Payne - Darker Than Blue

Amin Payne is a New Zealand born producer living in Melbourne, Australia, and I think it’s safe to say that this kiwi is doing things right. Released on April 20th, his Curtis Mayfield Tribute EP is nothing short of spectacular. A perfect Hip-Hop release with soul, swag & sensibility; this is definitely Amin’s best release to date. I hope he gets recognised - you have no excuse not to get it, it’s FREE.

Saul Williams - Look To The Sun

Last week I brought you ‘Rocket’ from Saul Williams’ new album, Volcanic Sunlight. Ever since then I’ve been eagerly anticipating to hear it, and thankfully last night it landed in my inbox. Granted it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but if you go into with an open mind then you are more than likely going to love it. Below is my favourite track, which showcases Saul at his poetic best.

Rizzle Kicks - Better Watch It (Prophet)

Here is the new video from my favourite UK group right now, Rizzle Kicks - using still photography in Brighton, the twins have created some uniquely dope visuals that go perfectly with the track. I’ve been in constant contact with the boys over the past few months and everything I’ve heard has been of the highest quality. A while ago I wasn’t too sure about them, but they have made the effort to convince me otherwise and I think it’s safe to say that they have definitely found their sound. Power of the Interwebz.

Beastie Boys - Too Many Rappers x Nonstop Disco Powerpack

Beastie Boys have made a long awaited return with their new album, Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2, which is set to drop on May 3rd. Below are two of my favourite tracks - first up is a collaboration with Hip-Hop legend NaS that was performed @ Bonnaroo back in 2009, but I’ve been eagerly anticipating the final version since then, and I’m glad to say that it didn’t disappoint. The second is a massive disco infused track, which for me sums up everything that the Boys are about. For me, this album is a must buy.

Animal Farm - Test Of Time (Feat. Talib Kweli)

Some classic sounding Hip-Hop courtesy of Portland based group, Animal Farm. Featuring Talib Kweli, this single is everything I love about my favourite genre - very reminiscent of People Under The Stairs. Will be on the lookout for this album.

Hazel - Playground

Here is a snippet of the title track from French producer Hazel’s upcoming EP, Playground. After gaining a solid reputation over the past few years thanks to his numerous productions for artists such as Drake or Slakah the Beatchild to name just a few, Häzel finally presents his first solo project. Very Dilla-esque.

Warren G - This Is Dedicated To You

After the unfortunate passing of Nate Dogg last month, his homie Warren G has released this heart-wrenching dedication, which features the ever brilliant LaToya Williams. I’m sure there were a few tears shed during the making of this. Miss you Nate.

Aloe Blacc - 99 Problems

Aloe Blacc dropped into Maida Vale this morning to do a little live lounge session for Trevor Nelson. While he was there he performed I Need A Dollar and Loving You Is Killing Me, but it was his cover of 99 Problems that stole the show. This is just another example of why he is one of my favourite artists right now; way too cool. He is like a modern day James Brown.
