Mick Boogie has today dropped off the highly anticipated new mixtape from 'Slum Village', which features guest appearances from legends such as Rapper Big Pooh, De La Soul, Phonte, Phife Dawg, as well as newer artists such as Black Milk & Big Sean. Nothing will ever bring Dilla & Baatin back, but this is a very sick and well put together project, which is a must hear for any SV (Hip-Hop) fan. Download HERE, check out two of my favourite tracks out after the jump.
Mick Boogie & Young RJ add some James Brown flavour to 'Turning Me Off', which paves the way for the legendary De La Soul to go in over the top of it. This is the first track to be taken from the Slum Village (T3) mixtape 'Dirty Slums', which drops March 27th. Sounds like it's going to be amazing.
As Dilla month continues, the goodies keep on rolling in. This one is an unreleased SV jam from WAY BACK, before Dilla even had a drum machine, which means the beat was actually made using the 'pause and stop record' method. 'Tell Me' also showcases Jay Dee's massively under-rated skills on the mic. See the full story after the jump.
New Zealand beatmaker Ghost yesterday uploaded his funky remix of the brilliant 'Selfish' by Slum Village, which was released in 2004 and featured KanYe West & John Legend. This is smooth, free download below.
As part of the re-issue of Slum Village's classic album Fan-Tas-Tic Vol 1, there has been a 7" vinyl released, which features this previously unreleased track. Classic SV. Miss these guys.
The first piece of music we’ve heard from T3 since the Slum Village break up. Granted it’s nothing like the quality I came to expect from SV, but it’s still pretty cool. Look forward to his solo album.
Slum Village soundcheck with Dilla and Baatin present. This is one of the best videos to ever hit the net. Can’t explain how much he is missed.
Best track off one of the stronger R&B albums from 2010.
Dwele never disappoints.
