He’s smashed every single one, but his take on one of my favourite tracks from 808s & Heartbreak is by far and away my favourite so far. This is amazing, and far more enjoyable than KanYe’s auto-tuned original.

Here is the first official single from the super talented singer/songwriter David Stewart, who most of you will know as the guitarist from Example. I heard a rough cut of the track a month or two ago, but he sent me the final version yesterday, and haven’t stopped playing it since. This is a beautiful love ballad that ticks every box for me when it comes to a Pop record. Here are two new tracks from the incredibly talented singer/songwriter/producer, David Stewart. About a month ago we were chatting at Boardmasters about where he was going/what he wanted to do and he explained to me how the production on his last effort, Virtual Love, didn’t really suit him and proceeded to play me one of the tracks that he had been working on. I’m pretty sure you will agree that these two tracks are a vast improvement and streets ahead of the majority of pop music you are hearing in the charts right now. Incredible is lyrically perfect and the production has all the right characteristics a strong love ballad should have. Join The Party is a much more upbeat track with an extremely catchy hook/chorus - so much so that it’s already stuck in my head. You can hear them both below and make up your own mind.

Example was at Radio 1’s Big Weekend today and performed on the In New Music We Trust stage, before heading over to the Live Lounge Area with Mr. Sheldrake & Mr. Stewart. Firstly they did the new single ‘Kickstarts’, followed by a superb cover of Dominoes by Big Pink. For those of you that don’t know - David Stewart is a singer, songwriter and performer that is currently singing and playing guitar for Example. Aged just 21, he has achieved some quite astonishing feats; including writing with Mark Owen, performing at the famous Abbey Road Studios and also on the tail end of the Simply Red arena tour. David will also be performing at near enough every major festival in the country this Summer, before starting to concentrate on writing and recording material for his first commercial release, which will hopefully come to fruition in 2011/2012.
I’m not a huge fan of Pop music on the whole, but I can appreciate thoughtful lyrics and forward-thinking production. This song has both of those. I think it’s a very clever concept and I know that I for one would love to see more Music like this in the Top 40 on a regular basis. He is a top guy, a very talented Musician and I wish him every success for the next few years. I was lucky enough for him to send me ‘Virtual Love’ earlier today and you are able to hear it here:
