Slum Village - Bounce Wit A Nigga
As part of the re-issue of Slum Village's classic album Fan-Tas-Tic Vol 1, there has been a 7" vinyl released, which features this previously unreleased track. Classic SV. Miss these guys.

Vanilla is a UK based Hip-Hop producer - there isn't much more I can tell you about him (because that's all I know), but I do know one thing, he is one talented geezer who judging by his SoundCloud has had a very busy 12 months. A couple of weeks ago he released High Life, which is a beat tape of 27 soul-sampling hip hop instrumentals, inspired by some of the greatest producers to ever live such as Dilla, Madlib and Onra. This is genuinely one of the best beat tapes I have heard for years - he has sampled some of my favourite Soul records of all-time and brought back that real soulful Hip-Hop sound, which I feel has been somewhat lost in recent times. I think Dilla would be happy that there is still music like this being made, and that more than anything makes me a very happy man. This will probably be the most played thing on my iPod during 2011 - it is THAT good! Get your copy of this for FREE - you would be an idiot if you didn't.
P.S. I even decided to put up 3 tracks in order to convince you.
Created in 2006, this remembrance piece is created as a tribute to the memory and legacy of James “J.Dilla” Yancey. This is a piece designed for his fans and supporters who knew of his accomplishments before February 2006 and those that have grown to appreciate his genius. Here, we gain a greater insight and understanding about our musical icon.
J.Dilla is Still Shining.
Slum Village soundcheck with Dilla and Baatin present. This is one of the best videos to ever hit the net. Can’t explain how much he is missed.
Here is the deserved winner of the Art4Dilla contest that has been running over the past month or so. Pretty amazing, dontcha think? You can get your own copy of it, here.
Miss you Jay Dee x
So Far To Go is an international art contest and a tribute to the loved and missed recording artist and producer, J Dilla. Artists can submit their original artwork inspired by J Dilla. The top voted contestant’s artwork will be produced as a poster and limited edition Giclee print series signed by the artist and Dilla’s mother, Ma Dukes. Proceeds will be donated to the J Dilla Foundation. Above is my personal favourite and you can vote for yours here.
Public House is the brain child of Finnian Casey (soundcloud), and is a label that is set to blow the house scene apart with its bass driven funk infused tracks. His night Public House (named after the Label) boasts a concerted party ethic set to a backdrop of conscientiously made tunes featuring guest DJ appearances from the cream of underground Techno and House movement. The track below is a remix of my favourite Frank-N-Dank tune, Ma Dukes. As far as House music goes, this is as funky and good as it gets. Excited to see/hear what more they have to bring us in the near future.
Best Dilla tribute I’ve heard since Stevo’s Muffins mixtape, courtesy of Amiri. Make sure you go and get his new album; The Recipe.
My tribute to Jay Dee that I have been wanting to do for a very long time. 50 minutes & 54 tracks of what I believe to be his best work, with some brilliant tributes thrown in there too. I wish I could bring him back. Miss you Dilla.
