Hip-Hop Classic #30: Jay-Z - Can I Live (Chosen by DJ Semtex)

'Can I Live' is a track taken from Jay-Z's debut album, Reasonable Doubt, which was released in 1996 on Roc-A-Fella Records. The track is produced by Irv Gotti and samples the classic 'Look Of Love' by Isaac Hayes. Reasonable Doubt is very similar to 'OB4CL' by Raekwon as it incorporates a mafioso theme, whilst also intergrating topics such as betrayal and reminiscence. The album peaked at #23 on the Billboard 200, recieved platinum status in 2002, and sold 1.5 million copies as of 2006. Four singles were released, with the most successful being 'Ain't No Nigga' and 'Can't Knock The Hustle'. Jigga man is untouchable.
