India Benet, daughter of the legendary Eric Benet, pays tribute to Amy Winehouse by performing an acoustic version of Valerie in her bedroom. She is stunning, and has clearly inherited some of her dad's talent when it comes to singing side of things. A great cover, even with crazy Curtis dancing around for the entire video. Looking forward to hearing some of her own material.
As part of Bob Marley week on Radio 1, Yasmin and Wretch 32 dropped in to the Live Lounge to perform two uniquely spectacular covers with a little help from the brilliant Vula Malinga and Sharlene Hector. You can listen to both covers below and download the MP3s HERE. R.I.P. Bob.
DJ Mitsu The Beats is one of many Japanese Hip-Hop producers to emerge from the scene over the past 10 years and be recognised by people across the pond. Recently he has released a new instrumental album called Loop Amplitude, which sees him do Jazz re-works of 18 classic 1990s Hip-Hop tracks. If you like Hip-Hop, then you need this in your life. Amin Payne is a New Zealand born producer living in Melbourne, Australia, and I think it’s safe to say that this kiwi is doing things right. Released on April 20th, his Curtis Mayfield Tribute EP is nothing short of spectacular. A perfect Hip-Hop release with soul, swag & sensibility; this is definitely Amin’s best release to date. I hope he gets recognised - you have no excuse not to get it, it’s FREE.
Believe it or not, today is a year since Guru sadly passed away. Here is one of my favourite tracks from his game changing Jazzmatazz series. One of the greatest rappers to ever live - sadly missed.
Today is the 14th anniversary of the death of Christopher George Latore Wallace, better known as The Notorious B.I.G., or Biggie Smalls. His career, all be it short lived, will go down in history as one of the most influential of all-time - with only two studio albums he changed the way that everyone looked at Hip-Hop as a whole. Biggie Smalls was definitely the illest.
My tribute to Jay Dee that I have been wanting to do for a very long time. 50 minutes & 54 tracks of what I believe to be his best work, with some brilliant tributes thrown in there too. I wish I could bring him back. Miss you Dilla.

This track is ‘A Prayer For Haiti’ and is taken from Albright’s new album, Pushing The Envelope. Featuring the jazz legend George Duke, it is by far and away the most touching and fitting tribute I’ve heard for the tragedy that took place in January this year.
