Danny Brown - Y.B.P. (Feat. Bruiser Wolf)

This is one of my favourite songs that I've listened to all year... taken from Danny Brown's latest album 'Quaranta' on Warp Records, it's one of the most Detroit things you could ever wish to hear, in every sense. The whole album feels like a whole new side of Danny, and is arguably his finest body of work to-date. A must-listen.

Waajeed - Heavy (Feat. Candi Lindsey)

'Heavy' is my favourite track from Detroit native Waajeed's new EP, which features the vocal talents of Candi Lindsey, an alias for legendary Wu-Tang songstress Blue Raspberry. Gospel-inspired house pumper, which is very reminiscent of a Flooplan record, but with Waajeed's own touch Detroit flavour. Love it... buy and stream here.

Fierce gospel vocals, slamming Detroit drums and that signature Waajeed swing. A masterpiece from one of the unsung underground heroes, who has played a pivotal part in both the house and hip-hop music coming out of Detroit in the past 20 years.
