Kirk Whalum - They Say It's Wonderful

Grammy winning Saxophonist Kirk Whalum, in the role of the great John Coltrane, brings in a trusted ally brother/vocalist Kevin who assumes the role of Johnny Hartman in a recreation of the memorable 1963 duet recording. A beautiful tribute, buy HERE.

Gregory Porter - Real Good Hands x Our Love

Gregory Porter is probably a name that doesn't mean much to most of you, but ever since the release of his debut Grammy-nominated album 'Water' in 2010, he has fast become one of the most sought after and well respected male Jazz vocalists in the world. His rich and soulful voice is what strikes you first, but the level of talent goes much deeper than that, with all of his original songs seeping class, sentiment and love - all boosted by the stunningly understated production and musicianship.

Robert Glasper Experiment - Cherish The Day (Feat. Lalah Hathaway)

One of my favourite tracks from Robert Glasper's forthcoming album, which is the first full-length release from the GRAMMY-nominated keyboardist's electric Experiment band - saxist Casey Benjamin, bassist Derrick Hodge, and drummer Chris Dave.

Marcus D - Don't Hold Ya Breath (Feat. Funky DL)

Marcus D teams up with Jazz-Hop legend Funky DL for his new single, 'Don't Hold Ya Breath', which was released independently today. DL is one of the most under-rated wordsmith's out there and his laid back style fits perfectly over the groovy production from the Seattle born beat-maker. One of the best tunes of 2012 so far. Get your copy HERE - it's only 66p.

Robert Glasper & Erykah Badu - Afro Blue (Mongo Santamaria & John Coltrane Cover)

Originally composed by Mongo Santamaria and made famous by John Coltrane, 'Afro Blue' is a bonafide jazz classic. 2012 sees Robert Glasper and Erykah Badu place their own unique spin on this classic for Glasper's upcoming album, Black Radio. RG: "Erykah loves flutes, so I arranged this song with flutes in it. This song was recorded during the time she was on the Rock The Bells tour. Luckily she was able to come in and do the song". Get your copy of his first single HERE.

R.I.P. Ralph MacDonald (1944-2011)

Ralph MacDonald, the Grammy-winning writer, producer and percussionist passed away yesterday morning at his home in Stamford, after a long illness. He worked with artists such as George Benson, Luther Vandross, Aretha Franklin, Quincy Jones, Amy Winehouse and many more, but is best known for composing the classics 'Where Is The Love' by Roberta Flack & Donny Hathaway and 'Just The Two of Us' by Grover Washington Jr & Bill Withers. Another legend gone too soon.

Smoove & Turrell - Gabriel

Smoove & Turrell round off an incredible year with the emotional and highly charged single 'Gabriel'. Their previous single 'Hard Work' gave the boys their first UK national radio playlist, spending 4 weeks on the Radio 2 playlist in October and cracking the UK Airplay charts. Now the Geordie duo have their sights set on the charts with a beautiful song that shows why John Turrell is considered to be one of the most important new singer/songwriters in the UK. Backed by Smoove’s classic production and with a subtle nod to its release date - this is set to be the single that lifts the band to the next level. LOVE!

Amy Winehouse - Halftime

Following the brilliant 'Like Smoke (Feat. NaS)' and the heart-wrenching cover of 'Our Day Will Come', the third piece of music has now surfaced from Amy Winehouse's first posthumous album, Lioness: Hidden Treasures, which will be released on December 2nd. The track was written by Amy herself and produced by her friend and long-term collaborator Salaam Remi, and optimises everything that was positive about this spectacularly talented young lady. Miss her.
